Sexy Insurance!

Social Networking for the Insurance Industry

Alright, its a new year and a new decade. I think everyone seems more cheerful this year, and I really do believe we are slowing coming out of this dreadful horrible recession. The reason why is people are not running as scared anymore, and people realize no matter what the Earth will continue to spin around the sun. One thing I've really noticed is people seem to be putting more faith back into our economy. And that is the determining factor of a lot of things in a quote "capitalist market". For one thing the way our currency is weighed and traded and which way the market goes.

I think this a really good time to start getting your fiances together, and one way to do that is shopping around your insurance! A lot of people each year spend way to much on a policy because they have had a company forever... Well I think that is a very poor excuse because for one: What have they done for you lately? Two: If you have a had a policy for a long time with one company, how do you know your still getting a competitve rate? This is one huge reason that I always recommend an Independent Agent. You still (if you find a good one) get the same great service from having an agent, but he or she most likely offers a range of different companies. But you ask is going direct cheaper? Wouldn't you think cutting out the middle man (agent) would save me money??? Well lets think about this. There are two ways to get a policy directly through a company. One is to buy it online and the other is the phone? Lets take Geico for example. They spend millions of dollars each year on online, tv and radio advertising. I know you guys see Famous Warren Buffets commercial all the time.. So lets break it down:

Advertising costs include: TV, Radio, Online, Newspaper... And then you have to think about, how they need to hire licensed specialists to write the policy's over the phone, they still have to hire underwriters, GEICO still has to even have someone licensed review a policy's sold online. So what does this equal? This means that there rates are not necessarily better. So at the end the money they would have to pay an agent for selling it, is just as much money that they have to spend on advertising and overhead.

Overall there really is no advantage going direct...
